So that early adopters might see good service, but once everyone in the neighborhood has it, things may not be so nice. DSL bandwidth is aggregated in a place where it is more economical to expand the bandwith available to a neighborhood. My experience has been that there are more choices for providers over DSL than cable. Cable is pretty much going to be broadband for sheep unless you pat for business class service. Alternate DSL providers exist that will provide you with real internet access for a cost between BBfS and BBfB.
