First, I've had top running and when it seems to freeze, I'm seeing Thunderbird taking about 100% of the CPU. So it seems that T-Bird gets into a tight loop doing something. When I am doing X over IP, I only notice this when I am physically doing something, but at home, thunderbird goes dark so it is much more noticable because I tend to look at the keyboard when I type, so I may miss a freeze. Also, doing X over IP can cause other issues so it is not a very good test. The other thing that started to occur which is very annoying is when trying to delete a message in a folder (such as my Fedora folder), I get an alert dialog box: "Unable to delete messages in folder FedoraList because it is in use by some other operation. Please wait for that operation to finish and then try again". I've seen this before, and it normally means that a received message is being moved to the folder and that the folder is locked. In the past, this would take care of itself, but now apparently the only way I can delete a message once I first see this message is to exit and restart thunderbird. I have been didling with a few things. I installed an addon (Purge) that supposedly gave me a "compact folder" button, but it did not, so I uninstalled it. I also disabled the "duplicate messages" addon so I only have enigmail, addblock plus, and English dictionary installed. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@xxxxxxx> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846
