What makes this whole thing even worse, my system even has a
"system-config-printer-applet" file but when I run it, nothing
happens and I can't install it on either panel. I even covered
the contingency of in case my user account needed to belong to the
"lp" group. Any ideas why that part of my system is not available?
You need to run it as:
system-config-printer-applet --no-tray-icon
By default, the tray icon will only show if there are print jobs in
the
queue.
1) The tray icon *NEVER* appears when printing
2) I've tried to run the applet but nothing happens - I do mean
nothing.
1. Please don't top-post.
2. Open a terminal and run the following command:
python /usr/share/system-config-printer/applet.py --no-tray-icon
What happens?
(As you wish - the top posting which I do by default)
Nothing happens. Oh, I can see the HD chew on it for a moment but
then I guess the moment is gone. No errors, no output, no windows....
Well, you'll be happy but confused as I am but upon rebooting the
system, all of the print que viewing links are now working although I
didn't change anything on my system. I've used, printed and rebooted
the system about a 100 times and suddenly it's working.... "They're
coming to take me away, ha, ha!"
