So, you know how long your system takes to shut down, and you
have your system configured to request how much more up time
the UPS has, and based on that your system waits until the

what you are saying?
I'm asking about your system and how it is set up.

system estimates approximately 30 minutes run time on battery and will shutdown (run level 6) when battery level reaches 5%
I suppose that this means that you have your UPS configured to
signal imminent power loss at 5%, and that's when you system
shuts down. Hmm. 5% of 30 minutes is 1.5 minutes. Can your
system reliably shut down in 1.5 minutes? Mine cannot.
What has this to do with monitoring line conditions or other
extended conversations with the UPS?
