I find that difficult to believe.
The OP seems to have written enough emails to fill a small library,
so surely he has a good grasp of an editor.

I would have deleted the lot,
and got 2 kosher files, fedora.repo and fedora-updates.repo.

I must have missed that.
You mean, he got the CUPS web-page on his machine?
In that case he was 1mm from getting CUPS running.
