Speaking of RHEL and clones, does anyone understand the symlink-to-symlink scheme is supposed to work for programs that have alternatives? For example, is there a canned way to install the Sun JVM and get the right thing in /usr/bin/java and /usr/bin/javac? It looks like there is some kind of plan for this but I haven't found any documentation.
You just make change to links in /etc/alternatives directory to point to the right stuff. Not sure if there's tool for doing it. And not really sure if it might get overwritten on package update (don't think it should).
