Hey Marc, Thanks for the URL however that is where I got my original information on how to configure my xorg.conf I did look in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log for x server startup errors and I didn't notice any there was also a backup file as well and I didn't notice any in there either. However I think the reason is because when I was trying to get back in to reset my init level to 3 I somehow got X to reboot and it asked if I wanted for it to try to attempt to reconfigure and I said yes. So it may have cleared the logs. So it is using the default drivers at this point or so it says but if I go into xorg.conf it shows the nvidia driver is being used. I am really baffled at this point. Thanks again for all your help, Mathew -----Original Message----- From: Marc Schwartz [mailto:MSchwartz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 17, 2004 10:58 PM To: Mathew S. The 'modeline' setting seems to be the most problematic component. I located an xorg.conf file for a gentlemen that appears to have gotten his working properly. You might want to start out by using his and seeing how that works. It is located here: http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~rbirdman/configs/xorg.txt There are likely to be others here in the same boat and who may be able to offer you further assistance. I have the regular UXGA panel on my 5150 and have not had these issues. One of the places also to look for error messages during the startup of the x server is: /var/log/Xorg.0.log I would recommend that you change back to init level 3 for the time being until you get this resolved. That way, you can at least boot to a text mode console and use 'startx' to attempt to bring up the GUI to aid with debugging. HTH, Marc
