I strongly suspect that a close friend from church has been using it at university. He doesn't have a university network in his dorm, but set up a small network for gaming with friends. I don't think anyone told them that they had to give the computers IP addresses, so they didn't. If they want the Internet, they go onto campus or dial up individually.
