This comes up every day (once or twice). If there is a Fedora Core 1 FAQ, this should be added.
There is one at fedora.artoo.net, although unofficial. Look at
http://fedora.artoo.net/faq/#nVidia
and you'll see that these instructions are in fact there. Also, the much easier and prefered rpm solution is mention at the top of the post.
