Kelly, please quote correctly and I'm in the list too, you don't have to CC me.

As <pctech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> says, it's certainly for compatibility.
qmail-scanner uses perl-suid for the moment, but maybe a wrapper in the future.
So, you can use the suidperl package from the fedora distribution for the moment.
