Thanks Andy, for replying. nothing EE errors in the logs. Xorg.conf is very small and simple, does contain this section: Section "Device" Identifier "Videocard0" Driver "nv" the Xorg,0,log does have references to finding my card, an Nvidia made 5200, it's mentioned. Sheesh, my Linux skills are rusty.
