The question is why you stuck with Fedorae 7 rather than Fedora Core seven, which eliminate the confusion. The reason that the nature of Core had changed is sort of inadequate. Anyway, it has been done so we are just going to have to let it rest.
Because there is no "core" distribution anymore. This is not only because Fedora Core and Fedora Extras have been merged. This is also because the distribution model has changed to release "spins", that is images composed from a customised selection of packages from the full set of Fedora packages (aka the "Everything" repository).
