You need to first locate a F7 mirror and the /fedora/releases/7/Fedora/i386/os directory. Put in either the F7 Rescue CD or DVD and enter "linux askmethod" on the after the system boots. Depending on the URL of the mirror select either HTTP or FTP and enter the data requested on the screen. Here's a write up using FC-6 is still applies to F7: http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/installation_guides/redhat_fedora_core_6_installation_guide/sn-install-tcpip-config.html
Thanks, Kam, but when I try to run the rescue mode from the F7 installation dvd, I get again the same deadlock problem: "Loading pata_it821x driver". Thus, a network install seems not possible here. Paul
