Is this address correct from your earlier post

/etc/udev/rules.d/52- sound.rules
No. It should be:

/etc/udev/rules.d/52-sound.rules (no space)

Sorry...

Thanks Paulo its now working except for KDE system sounds, the KDE test
sound works but nothing else in KDE.
Try kcontrol > Sound & Multimedia > Sound System > Hardware tab > Select
audio device. Autodetect works for me at the moment, on this box, but on
some I've had to set it to alsa.

Anne
I tried both settings and it didn't work,Test works but no other

Thanks david

I donèt use the system notification sounds in KDE, but I thought of trying them, by going to. Control centre>Sound and Multimedia>System Notifications, initially they didn't work, and I had to choose a player, using the "Player Settings" button. It's a while ago, but IIRC the one suggested was artsplay. I've looked in the Help page for sys notifications, but it doesn't mention it there, but the sys sounds did work after adding an external player.

Nigel.

It still does not work what ever setting I use.

Thanks david
