I donèt use the system notification sounds in KDE, but I thought of trying 
them, by going to.
Control centre>Sound and Multimedia>System Notifications, initially they 
didn't work, and I had to choose a player, using the "Player Settings" 
button.  It's a while ago, but IIRC the one suggested was artsplay. I've 
looked in the Help page for sys notifications, but it doesn't mention it 
there, but the sys sounds did work after adding an external player.
