Are they doing it the other way around?  (The DHCP server telling the
clients the hostname to use - along with their IP.)

I suppose it's possible... although when I did a

$ dig -x a.b.c.d

DNS didn't report a hostname.

By the time I left, I used up all the free DHCP addresses.  Now it
will have to keep until Monday.
