There were a couple of 'modern' rental houses about half way to the top, one of which we occupied. At the top, there was a U.S. military housing compound. One night, a drunken sergeant caught a poor Taiwanese guy looking in his window at his wife showering, who had somewhat of a shall we say exhibitionist proclivity. The sergeant shot and killed the poor guy - that led to rioting and the sacking of the U.S. Embassy - I was evacuated to Okinawa by helicopter. It was otherwise a very pleasant interlude of my young years. I'd love to see it now. I guess I better stop digressing before the natives get restless about this OT. -- Claude Jones Brunswick, MD, USA
