Something is misconfigured on your system if you need to hardcode the
full path to the glx module.

It may be strange...but not uncommon. The same thing has happened to me. I
forgot where I got the answer. It may have been in some FAQ on the nvidia site.

But, you will get:

(II) LoadModule: "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so" (glx)
(WW) LoadModule: given non-canonical module name
"/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
        compiled for 4.0.2, module version = 1.0.8774
        Module class: X.Org Server Extension
ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 0.1
(II) Loading extension GLX

When it loads correctly. As noted I'm using the 8774 version of the nvidia
drivers.

No, it won't. And, I think you will be pleased with the results.
