Here are a few comments about some of your other questions. Linux is built and distributed using an economic philosophy that is quite different from Windows. It is open source. The Fedora distribution takes that very seriously. That means that the Fedora distribution contains nothing that is encumbered with licenses that would restrict distribution of its source code for no charge. That is why there is no mp3 support in the Fedora distribution. The economic philosophy behind open source software is quite at odds with the economic philosophy used by Microsoft. Further, the success of Linux takes away revenue from Microsoft. So, I would not expect Microsoft to make it easy for Windows users to access Linux systems from their PCs.
