How to keep active my lan adapter

Dear Friends,
I am working on FC4, AMD processor, Duel boot with win 98, onboard VIA
network adapter.
Problem : I have configured lan to be active on boot, but when I check
network i found it inactive, on activation it became active for 20-30 sec
but again inactive automatic, during this active period i can ping to other
PCs on network. can any body help me to keep active my lan card

Content of my /var/log/message , ifconfig   and    /etc/modprobe.conf    is
