Look in /usr/local/mysql/bin. If it's not in there do a locate -u as root, than locate mysqld_safe. The command line tool will be in the directory it returns.I've successfully installed MySQL and the MySQL Administrator GUI app.
I don't see how to create a database using the Admin. GUI? I seem to
only be able to bring up the defalt db. Is there a way, or do I need
the command line tools. I could not find any of these on my system? are they not installed with the MySQL RPM's ?
If not where can I get them?
tks.
I suggest getting phpMyAdmin if you are planning on just using the databases and don't care about learning any of the command line functions of mysql.
Most of all, refer to the mysql documentation on mysql.com to learn about the command line and for more detailed help.
