First of all, are you running Linux kernel 2.6.8.1? If so, you'll want to
drop down to 2.6.7, 2.6.8.x has a bug that prevents k3b from burning CDs,
unless you're root.

I upgraded the K3B rpm to the new version k3b-0.11.14-0.fdr.0.2, and now
I can't write CDs. In the device detection screen, My Plexwriter
24x10x40x (/dev/hdc) says it cannot write CD-Rs now, but it still can
write CD-RWs. What is the deal with this? Is it just a bug in the new
version, or was something changed in the program that I need to adjust
my system settings for?
Yep, that was the problem. I dropped back down to 2.6.7-1.456 and now I
can burn CDs again.
