Hi Andy,

If you are trying to learn how to compile major things yes this is a great way to go, download the source and build it from scratch. If you are more interested in just getting software to fly quick, then the srpm's are the way to go for this.

I guess as a last resort you can resort to using the binaries that I have built via the XFce provided srpms.

Yeah, I use FC2.  I grabbed the rpms off your site.  I also grabbed the
latest unstable source code and I think I'll try my hand at compiling
that.  If I get stuck, I'll just install your rpms.  I'm pretty handy
with the rpm command.  I'll also check out the rpmbuild info pages.
