mkbootcd ?

Is there a simple mkbootcd program that works exactly like mkbootdisk ?

I googled for this, and there seem a number of scripts called mkbootcd ,
but it wasn't clear at a quick glance if they worked in the same way
as mkbootdisk.

Incidentally, if the kernel is too large now to fit on a floppy -
and most computers now don't have a floppy drive anyway -
wouldn't it make sense to have mkbootcd
as part of the standard distributions?
