Perhaps better to ask specific questions about the issues that are causing 
pain.  For example, that OO has a dependency on Mozilla.... is that really 
causing pain?  Many, many apps in the Windows world have dependencies to IE 
rendering.

For your web design, did you try Mozilla Composer, part of standard Mozilla, 
open using the buttons at the bottom left of Mozilla windows or by mozilla

In short identify where your pain is coming from and ask about the medicine... 
it is hard to answer "why do I suffer???"  ;-)
