Yow! 1.2.4-0.2.b.lvn5 works perfectly, even with my large project (55'
now); 1.2.6-1.lvn5 has /exactly/ the same UI problem.

Hmm, that sounds like upstream's changes in 1.2.5 result in changed
behaviour for you. In 1.2.5 they modified some widgets and played
tricks with font resizing. Perhaps that creates problems in some
environments.

Just out of interest, you could try a rebuild against wxGTK2 and see
whether it also suffers from the same performance problems:

Unfortunately, wxGTK2 has its own set of problems. ;)

BTW, both of those also have correct sizes for labels in the canvas
area. Every Fedora version I can remember has oversized labels that run
into other controls and make the UI hard to see.

Should not be true anymore, since the packages are identical except
for mp3 support.
