Yes, there is. Invalid complaints are discarded all the time. If the
author disagrees, he is free to go to court over it.

Then read the GPL first and consult with a lawyer if you are in doubt.
It is hard enough to form a informed opinion after reading it. Making a
judgement without even reading it seems premature.

The complaint was never about the name. Even assuming cdrecord is a
trademark (which it isn't), symlinks are hardly a legal issue. There is
no point in pretending it is.
