Fedora is more bleeding edge than most distros, so you get the latest
and greatest stuff but also the headaches of testing new software.
That's what Fedora is for. If you just want to try Linux you might
indeed be happier with Suse or Ubuntu or ...

Just do it (be sure to connect your monitor to the right port :-). It'll
probably work right away. Unless you want to do fancy graphics or games,
onboard video is perfectly usable. It's what I have myself.
