At the time the developers confirmed the bug and they figured it must be in alsa. Here's a summary of IM options that I've tried: 1) gaim: speaks a hundred protocols, but no voice, no video, not even file transfers. 2) kopete: speaks yahoo, has video, but no sound (as of F8). Go figure! 3) ekiga: segfaults when using video (on my hardware at least). 4) skype: sound ok, video should have worked (as of F8) but didn't.
