FC9, Plugin USB stick/flash drive and I get error message.

It opens the Dolphin file manager but folders/files are not displayed.

If I try to drag a file into Dolphin I get the Error Message;

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: klauncher said: Unknown Protocol 'system' .

So is the problem that the stick is not mounted, or that this "dolphin" application isn't working properly? Is it mounted? Does "df" show the stick? Does "ls" list the contents.

It's not clear exactly which part isn't working and how much of the problem lies with the tools you are using after mount.

Using df shows that stick is not mounted after it is plugged in and fails to read stick.

I shut down all open windows.

Then I go to Menu > System > Dolphin and open Dolphin and at that time the sdc1 stick is mounted and you can read, write sdc1.

Then I do a df and then it shows as mounted.

Can Dolphin be deleted without taking out all other KDE apps.
I don't like Dolphin, I prefer Konqueror, I have gotten to where I can spell it now.

You still have Konqueror, it hasn't gone anywhere.

poc

Yes thats true but I don't like Dolphin coming up as default Filemanager.
