Before purchasing a printer you should check to see if there is a
Linux driver for it. CUPS does not support your printer.  Your
stand-a-lone printing options are not very good.

Lexmark has a really old driver kit,
http://www.lexmark.com/lexmark/sequentialem/home/0,6959,204816596_659668505_0_en,00.html
    , which you could try to build. Unfortunately, your printer model
is not listed as being supported.  It appears that your best bet is
OpenPrinting.org's  Z1310 driver,
http://www.openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Lexmark-Z1310 .
