There are two types of symbolic links. I believe the directory may need to be a hard symbolic link and not the other flavor.
Except I can't use a hard link across filesystems (two separate disks). However, I'm going to try adding this to /etc/fstab:
/fileserver/home /home auto bind 0 0 and I think that will do the trick... - Mike
