Sometimes yum is too CPU intensive causing 90% plus of a load for long durations. It causes this aging laptop to shut down for BIOS thermal protection if not constantly monitoring and adjusting the max CPU frequency. It was a transitional update to yum which railed and shut down the box. The current version is less of a stress test on the machine, fortunately.
