That may be something else such as power. The usual thing we've seen with
Lite on drives and some firmware revs is the drive requiring certain
values that in the spec are ignored for some commands. The newer kernels
clear the unused registers for such commands.

That wouldn't cause segfaults but does cause non-detection or continual
reset loops
