I am tired of finding the dam Update thing which has "yum" locked
up, in the kernel list and killing it. There should be a way to keep
it from being loaded.
Does anyone know how to take this device out of the kernel do
list. I will update a little at a time manually where I can see
what's happening.

From the GUI menu and buried deeply within a menu structure.
system/administration/server settings/services
toy can uncheck yum-updatesd by highlighting it and stopping the
process. You can save the configuration and it will not be loaded the
next time the computer starts.
I believe the kernel is innocent on this occasion and it is a user
space program.

Hi Jim no guilt towards anything. Some folks might like the
automatic updates. I don't. And I did it manually by going to /etc/rc.d.
Old but works fine.
