I found MUCH like the following in /var/log/messages: Jun 14 18:12:22 afolkey2 kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 62 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04E8 pid 0x300E Jun 14 18:12:52 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 62 Jun 14 18:12:52 afolkey2 kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: removed Jun 14 18:12:52 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 63 Jun 14 18:12:52 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Jun 14 18:12:52 afolkey2 kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 63 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04E8 pid 0x300E Jun 14 18:13:22 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: USB disconnect, address 63 Jun 14 18:13:22 afolkey2 kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: removed Jun 14 18:13:22 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 64 Jun 14 18:13:22 afolkey2 kernel: usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Jun 14 18:13:22 afolkey2 kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 64 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04E8 pid 0x300E I tried a different USB port, to no avail. I tried switching ports even though I have had no problems with our USB CD burner, scanner, card reader or camera. If I think of anything else, I will get back to you. Steven P.
