Hmm, I haven't got that one, but I have .2798.fc6.i586, .2849.fc6.i686,
.2895.fc6.i686, .2895.fc6.i686, and so on. As you can see, Anaconda put
the wrong arch kernel in when I upgraded, but also, .2798 is the kernel
from the official FC6 media, and is not a pre-release kernel.

That is the version I have on my updated system.

Man modprobe says it expects an up to date modules.dep file. It doesn't
say what happens if it thinks the file is not up to date, but deleting the
file seems harsh. WAG: is the clock correct on that machine? And there's
always the immutable bit, and bugzilla.
