Haven't used KDE in centuries but while afaik it usually is not too much
of a hassle to use Gnome apps on a KDE desktop this seems to be a fine
example where it does not work very well together. Hardly fair to blame
gmplayer or KDE for that.

If I right click on gmplayer the menu clearly shows "Skin Browser"
Before you do that find, download and install a skin you like from:
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html
