Funny thing is that XP does not recognize a USB keyboard either when in

What is more of a question, grub worked fine. Does windows disregard the
USB mode in safe mode or is grub capable of some USB keyboard support?

GRUB picks up my USB kb just fine, as does XP in safe mode.

I know windows 2000 does not work in safe mode without legacy USB support enabled in BIOS. I was surprised that when I got the screen in XP for the boot into safe mode or boot normally, the USB keyboard did not work to make a selection. I had to wait for the timeout to expire in winXP. Since the grub menu worked for making a selection, I assumed that either winXP was using some non-BIOS features to detect the keyboard.

Oh well, I will not worry about the peculiarity on my system too much. I hardly ever get the safe mode prompt. Since grub works with the USB keyboard, I am satisfied.
