Other things to try: Check selinux - put into permissive and see if you can then login. Flush firewall (iptables -F) - obviously not a long-term solution, but... Put 'SCREEN_02 = shell' in the lts.conf see if you can do a CLI mount (CRTL-ALT-F2 to get to the shell) of the NFS home directory - perhaps you'll get a more verbose message.
