as andy said, it may be formatted to NTFS. unusual, but not too surprising.
to find out which device it is, try
fdisk -l (as root)
it should appear as /dev/sdX (where X is a letter)
and will probably contain partitions Maybe more than one.
you can freely repartition it if you need to.

you should not need to change anything in fstab at all

does the onetouch III have some kind of encryption feature?
