As a matter of interest, how does Fedora estimate the remaining time when installing? Mine goes up and down like a yo-yo. I feel I can estimate reasonably well how long a set of yum installs will take to complete. I must admit that the estimates given by Windows when installing are just as bad. Both Fedora and Windows go into unannounced sulks during my installations. Eg, long after I have put in a fresh CD and pressed OK, Fedora sits there asking me to put in a new CD. I think if there is likely to be a delay there should be some explanation of what is happening. Anaconda 6/10, Windows installation 7/10. [Windows gets an extra mark, because if there is an error reading a CD, Windows allows me to take the CD out and put in another (or even the same) CD, and it goes on from where it was. With Fedora you have to start the whole thing again, as far as I can see.] -- Timothy Murphy e-mail (<80k only): tim /at/ birdsnest.maths.tcd.ie tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland
