I seem to recall that earlier releases of Fedora -- FC1, FC2 -- had a rather annoying default turned on that caused it on my computer: DNS -- if you did not have a DNS server configured, or the server could not be reached, it would seem to hang for the longest time. This was just annoying compared to Solaris' habit of recording LINK DOWN messages every time the network cable was not connected (I always like to configure the Sun boxes before plugging into the network) -- Pascal Chong email: chongym@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx web: http://cymulacrum.net pgp: http://cymulacrum.net/pgp/cymulacrum.asc "La science ne connaît pas de frontière parce que la connaissance appartient à l’humanité. et que c’est la flamme qui illumine le monde." -- Louis Pasteur
