Since you seem to be using the fedora FAQ instructions, why not follow
the next step too:

http://www.fedorafaq.org/#yumconf

which tells you to do this:

rpm -Uvh http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum   http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-5.rpm

and when i run that i get a segmentation fault, yum install used to hang and could not reach a mirror now it will not let me go further. My DNS is right as i can dig fine from the console. 

Sorry my bad i had misconfigured the mac filtering on my router or it just does not work. Got yum back now :-)
