While I haven't used either checkinstall or fedora-newrpmspec, it appears
to me that a checkinstall-built RPM has a list of installed files in it,
while the output of fedora-newrpmspec does not.  Checkinstall uses
installwatch to make the list of files, so you might want to use
installwatch with fedora-newrpmspec.
