If you paid attention to the movie...you've got your work cut out for
you.

Seriously, I've often had issues with upgrades of gnome and after an
upgrade, I just...

prior to login, press <Control><Alt><F1> to get a virtual console

log in as myself...

mv .gnome .gnome-bak
mv .gnome2 .gnome2-bak
mv .gconf .gconf-bak
mv .gconf3 .gonfd-bak

and then press <Alt><F7> and login and I have all the GNOME defaults
again. You will probably need to copy some stuff back (evolution stuff
if you use evolution (i.e. 'mv .gconf-bak/apps/evolution/ .gconf/apps')
