Sjoerd presses the hotsync button then starts pilot-xfer.
Pete starts pilot-xfer then presses the hot-sync button.

The devices creation is related to the time when the hot-sync button is
pressed so that needs to be done before pilot-xfer is started so it uses
the proper device.
