Well, the dsl modem is plugged into the wan port and there is one computer plugged into port 1 of the switch and one wireless laptop connected. The router and pcmcia card came as a starter kit, it is a 32 bit pcmcia card as it has little bumps on the metal strip on the connector end. Both the desktop and laptop recieve their ip from the built in dhcp server and the desktop gets 100 and the laptop gets 101 usually. I told the router to use the range between 100 and 254 for dhcp leases. On the windows xp box with the printer I have disabled the built in firewall and enabled file and printer sharing. I still cannot get it to work, the same laptop configured to pick up an address from my dlink router will see the shares on my linux network and print to my linux/cups server.
