Which to use? The fedora web page recommends yum, and it sounds yummy, but up2date blinks attractively. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
up2date does these that, when I last looked, yum didn't: 1. Download without installing (good for crontab) 2. Fetch source 3. Get a package w/o dependencies Items one and two are important to me. apt-get does even more: eg build-dep - Configure build-dependencies for source packages but sadly its future here is limited. NIH problem one suspects. -- Cheers John -- spambait 1aaaaaaa@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Z1aaaaaaa@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tourist pics http://portgeographe.environmentaldisasters.cds.merseine.nu/ do not reply off-list
