Thanks John and Paul. When I do : at <time> export DISPLAY=:0 <command to launch any GUI-based app> I can start any GUI-based application indeed.I understand now that "at" is not capable of launching apps in a X-environment without the second line.
Still I can't find out why it won't start mplayer. Peter.
